The paint was almost brand new at around 1 month old when it was taken in to fix defects caused by insects. The person that attempted to fix it with compounding made a burnt mess which obviously didn't fix the deep insect damage.

I washed the car, pat dried it by microfiber, then polished crosshatch and buffed off 3 times before getting the result. In between was a lot of swirling and marring still going on but the third time was the charm.

The insect damage is still all over the car, but I've learned to live with it.

If you want to do this yourself, don't use a lot of polish product if you are hand polishing. Everyone recommends around 4 beads of product on the pad for machine polishing but that is way too much for hand polishing. It will dry out before being fully used. Use just one bead, do one single crosshatch, then buff off.
